This is the personal site of Storm Rockwell. It collects as little as possible — only what it needs to answer a message you send and to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used. This page explains exactly what that is and who processes it.

The contact form

If you use the contact form, the name, email address, and message you enter are sent to me so I can read and reply. Your email address is used as the reply-to so I can respond; it is not added to any mailing list.

Delivery is handled by Mailgun (Sinch), which transmits the message as email. I keep these messages in my inbox for as long as is useful to hold the conversation, and delete them when they are no longer needed. You can ask me to delete a message you sent at any time.

Anti-spam — Cloudflare Turnstile

The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-preserving alternative to CAPTCHA that checks a submission comes from a person rather than a bot. To make that assessment, Turnstile may process technical signals such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, and interaction data.

Turnstile is designed to protect privacy: Cloudflare states it does not use this data to track you across sites or to serve targeted advertising, and it does not rely on tracking cookies for this purpose. This processing is carried out by Cloudflare and is governed by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Analytics

To understand how the site is used, I rely on two analytics tools. I do not use this data to identify you personally.

  • Google Analytics (GA4, loaded via Google Tag Manager) collects usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device and browser information, and sets cookies to do so. It is provided by Google and governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Vercel Web Analytics collects aggregated, cookieless visitor metrics and does not track you across sites. It is provided by Vercel and governed by the Vercel Privacy Policy.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel, which may process standard technical information (such as your IP address and request details) in server logs to deliver and secure the site.

Cookies

The only cookies set on this site come from Google Analytics, as described above. The contact form, Turnstile, and Vercel Analytics do not set tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will continue to work.

Your choices

You can browse without using the contact form, opt out of Google Analytics with the add-on above, and block cookies in your browser. If you have sent me a message and want it deleted, or want to know what I hold, just ask via the contact form on the home page.

Changes

If the site’s data practices change, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it.
